Cleaning sucks...I mean really, it’s exhausting, draining, time consuming and comes with a very short term reward...interestingly I have heard dating described in the same way! ;)
The key to any chore be it cleaning, or laundry is self motivation. Now someone may ask well how can I possibly motivate myself to clean? Well some crank up the music, some break up different chores into long term projects and some like myself, lie.
Now I don't lie about actually doing the work, I lie to myself. "Oh it will look so good when you’re done!" I tell myself or "Really REALLY it will be fun!!!" Despite what you may be thinking this does work...sometimes.
But when you lie yourself into cleaning and doing laundry all weekend only to find come Monday it looks like you have done nothing, any sort of motivation becomes hard to drum up...like having the motivation to get out of bed for instance.
So what’s the solution? Go back to the days of packed dirt floors and rock selves...then no one will notice the dust. :)

WOW! You nailed it!!! And, unfortunately, once you're married with kids, it's even less motivating and less rewarding!! But, heh ... maybe I'll try the "lie" thing next time - "This could be about as much fun as trailing pantyhose at Long and McQuade!....???? GIGGLE! Quit laughing! Maybe next time you're cleaning, you could just replay my crazy stories in your head ... you'd laugh the whole time!!!

Now my technique is to let everything get SOOO messy, which really isn't that messy compared to most teens perspectives...however I let everything get so messy that I cant stand it anymore and that I HAVE to clean it!!
Now, when my mom asks me to clean something the best way to get through it....is to try and pretend I really do feel the task must be done or the world will fall apart...lol!!
In essence, I truly hate cleaning .....!! Although sometimes like spring cleaning I enjoy it...well actually thats not true...I enjoy re-organizing not cleaning!!!
